Psalms 104:34

My meditation of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the LORD.

Psalms 118:24

This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

Psalms 126:3

The LORD hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad.

I was asked recently, how can you be so happy? This is my answer.  The Bible tells me so!   I believed the Bible had the answer before my cancer, and the Bible helps me even more now!  It encourages me, strengthens me, and makes me smile.  I realized years ago the Bible truth about having a “merry heart”.   Going through a trial with a smile is easier than frowning or pouting.  Frowning or whining seems to make the problem seem longer.

The other reason I am happy is my home here and my future home.  I love and long for both.  My home here is a haven of love, family, and caring for my needs.  My home here has bad days, weak days, and painful days, but they are sprinkled with glimpses of God’s beautiful flowers, sunshine and blessings. On discouraging days, God always seems to send extra bit of love and joy my way.  My heavenly home brings me hope of seeing Jesus face to face.  Heaven means reunions with loved ones.  Heaven is perfect peace, no more pain, sin, or tears.  Thinking about heaven makes me joyful and happy!  I do not fear death, because I am on way home to Heaven.

The last reason that I am so happy is that I have determined to be happy.  Being happy no matter what the situation has been my personal outlook my whole life.  I like to live that way.  I like to smile all day, at everyone.  I like to be around cheerful people.  I enjoy trying to make frowning people smile or giggle.  My favorite Bible verses teach that principle……Determine to be glad in the Lord!  Being glad in the Lord is even more important when you are facing a trial.  Try this principle in your life and you find that the trial goes by faster and you will be happier.  My meditation of Him will be sweet!
