Fire Up the Grills! The Great Burger Cook-Off is Here!

Dear Church Family,

Get ready for the tastiest Sunday of the summer! On July 5th at 5:00 PM, we are hosting The Great Burger Cook-Off, and we want YOU to be the judge.

We’ve challenged 10-15 of our finest grill masters to serve up their best burger creations. Your job is simple: show up, grab a tasting kit, sample the entries, and cast your vote for the “People’s Choice Champion.”

  • When: July 5th @ 5:00 PM
  • Where: Community Baptist Church of Lansing, MI 7832 W Mt Hope Hwy, Grand Ledge, MI 48837 Church Pavilion.
  • Cost: Free

Whether you like them classic, spicy, or loaded with toppings, there’s a Burger/slider waiting for you. Bring a lawn chair, an appetite, and your competitive spirit!

Rules for the Cooks

To ensure a smooth competition, please follow these guidelines:

  1. Portion Size: Each cook should prepare 10–15 full burgers, which must be quartered or halved into “slider” portions for the crowd (aiming for roughly 30–40 tasting portions).
  2. Ingredients: Cooks are responsible for their own meat, buns, and “secret” toppings. (Note: Please let organizers know if your burger contains common allergens like nuts).
  3. Equipment: You must either precook your meat or bring your own grill (charcoal or gas), fuel, and grilling utensils.
  4. Food Safety: Meat must be kept chilled until it hits the grill. All burgers must be cooked to a safe internal temperature of 160°F (71°C).
  5. Preparation: Cooking begins at 4:00 PM. Serving begins promptly at 5:00 PM.
  6. Judging: The winner will be determined by “People’s Choice” via ballot box. Decisions are final (and delicious).
