The Baptism water is “Hot”!

The 2015 Christmas Eve service at the church was filled with special events, even hot water in the baptism tank. The six pm service started with prayer in the congregation (consisting of members and many visitors) and candles flickered throughout the auditorium. The Carols were sung and an offering was given to Jesus. The sermon was precious as Associate Pastor Joe brought the message filled with the love of God. Two baptism candidates made their way to the freshly filled baptism tank. The congregation watched as the brothers entered the water to obey the Lord’s command. It all started three years ago, through door to door visitation, their mom opened their front door and accepted the Gospel tract and invitation to come to church. Two weeks later there she and her husband sat with their two sons, in the 11 am Easter service, a big step for a family that recently immigrated to the United States from Romania. Baby steps towards faithfulness were made, first every other week then several weeks in a row, until the boys felt comfortable in the Patch Club. Just a month ago the brothers were led to Christ by Mrs. Kyla Jackson and after a follow up call lined up for baptism on Christmas Eve. Both parents were assisting their sons to get ready for baptism and they had some friends in the service to witness the event. As the oldest boy entered the tank he turned to me and exclaimed “Hot”! The tank’s water pump and heater had done their job circulating the water and made the water a little too warm for the liking of the candidates. With a spray or two of cool water added from the filling water hose the immersions went off flawlessly. The boys joined the church and the pre-baptism sprinkling with the water hose would have gotten an approving nod from Uncle Bud Robinson.
